Soweto horse riding tour

Mandy’s close friend, Mr Enos Mafokate, had a remarkable vision: to improve the welfare of cart horses in Soweto, to open up the exclusive world of riding to those who would otherwise never have the opportunity, and to enable disabled children to discover the joys of riding. In 2006, this vision became a reality.

Since then, the centre has developed into a unique rehabilitation centre, not only for horses, but also for many children from disadvantaged backgrounds. As a result, the Centre not only looks after the horses, but also provides clothing and food for these disadvantaged children.

Over the years, we have specialised in acrobatics, show jumping and bowling. This means that the centre not only focuses on equestrian activities, but also addresses domestic issues, encouraging the children of Soweto to aspire to a better life instead of turning to drugs and criminal activity.

We are very proud to say that this tour is about supporting the centre and showing the world that Soweto is a community of individuals who aspire to the best in their lives.

The children associated with the Centre have achieved remarkable success in all the shows and competitions in which they have taken part. They even won first prize at the 2016 South African Championships held in Cape Town. With unwavering confidence, they dream of representing South Africa at the Olympics and returning home with a gold medal.
