The Cape Wine lands And The Garden Route Tour (Fully Escorted)

Enjoy the delights that Cape Town has to offer including guided tours of the City and visits to probably the oldest wine growing region in the Western Cape. After sampling the delights of the Cape Wine lands travel to The Garden Route of the Western Cape to admire what this unique area has to offer.

Day 1

After arrival at Cape International Airport, you will be met and transported to a 4-star hotel in Cape Town where you stay throughout your time in Cape Town after check in and a freshen up you will escort on a tour of Cape Town.

No visit to Cape Town is complete without a half day tour of the Mother city itself.

After departing the hotel we head for Table Mountain to enjoy the crisp air and clear visibility as you reach the summit (weather permitting)

Our guide will point out the highlights of one of the world’s most famous views.

After the descent, enjoy a scenic the city centre and Green Market Square.

We stretch our legs with a walk through the Company Gardens.

The tour continues with a drive past the Houses of Parliament, the City Hall, and The Castle where we will take a tour before entering the “Bo Kaap”, also known as the Malay quarter.

The architecture in this area is typical of what Cape Town was like 200 years ago.
On our return to the waterfront a short tour is given before boarding the ferry to Robben Island (weather permitting)
Dinner at the Waterfront restaurant will be provided

Day 2

Today you will visit the wine farm at Groote Constantia a manor house dating back to the original Dutch Settlers enjoy lunch under the Oaks and wine tasting.

After lunch, we will go to a small family owned wine farm just outside the Groote Constantia gate for more tasting and a talk on the process.

One more wine farm in the Constantia Valley wine route will be visited before returning to your Hotel.
Dinner at a restaurant Saleen in the Waterfront will be provided

Day 3

After breakfast your transport and guide will collect for a tour of the Cape Wine Lands the first port of call will be Paarl (the birth of the Afrikaans language in the Cape) a place full of Cape Dutch architecture dating back to the 1800’s, so named because settlers saw white chips on the mountain and likened them to pearls, there is a very impressive monument to the language on a hill outside the town.

From there our first wine tasting will be at Fairview wine farm renowned for its goat’s cheese products, our next visit will be to Muratie wine farm where we will taste wine and have lunch.
A cellar tour will be arranged at Delheim wine farm.
We will then visit Stellenbosch the oldest town in South Africa named after Simon vd Stel its name means Stels bush, a stop will be arranged to visit Ou Samies Winkel a general store preserved in time, and a visit to the Great Brak a meeting place where town information was relayed to the town folk also the powder store which bears the VOC the emblem of the Dutch East India Company

Continuing on to Franschhoek (French Corner) so named because after the edit of Nantes was repealed by the French King taking away the right to free worship many of the Protestant community fled France and settled elsewhere, this was really the birth of the viticulture in the Cape.

A visit to the Huguenot museum is included. On the way to Franschhoek a small diversion to view from outside the prison where Nelson Mandela was released.

Return to Cape Town to freshen up before dinner.
Dinner will be provided at Sevuga restaurant in the Waterfront

Day 4

Today you will meet your guide who will take you to Cape Point in the Table Mountain National Park (the most South Westerly point of the African Continent) visiting Hout Bay to board a boat to see Seal Island home for hundreds of Cape Fur Seals on leaving Hout Bay we continue along Chapman’s Peak Drive built between 1912 /1915 completely by hand and named after John Chapman a seaman who first landed there looking for wood to repair his ships mast, this road gives wonderful views of the Atlantic Ocean, we continue along the coast glimpsing a view of the only steel clad lighthouse in South Africa, on arrival at Cape Point we see the wonder flora and fauna on display and perhaps catch a glimpse of some of the creatures in the park Zebra, Antelope, Ostrich and the famous Chackma Baboons, there are no predators in this reserve, we then visit The Cape of Good Hope for a photo opportunity before driving up to the car park to have the opportunity to visit the top most light either by vernacular or for the very fit on foot. 

After leaving Cape Point a lunch stop is arranged at the Black Marlin sea food restaurant.

After leaving our lunch stop we continue heading back to Cape Town and visit a Penguin Sanctuary at Boulders Beach before driving through Simonstown (a British Naval Base for about 100 years and now home of the South African Navy) you will be told the story of Just Nuisance a great Dane dog which attached its self to the British Sailors in WW2.
Continuing or drive back to Cape Town we will pass some small fishing villages which still maintain a lifestyle of harvesting the riches of the sea each has a story which our guide will relate as we pass through.
In the evening we will visit The Gold Restaurant. Cape Town to sample some traditional African foods and partake in the drumming experience.

Day 5

After breakfast the second part of this experience as we leave for Oudtshoorn (ostrich feather capital of the little Karoo) and visit the world renowned Cango Caves and an Ostrich Farm.

Overnight in Oudtshoorn on a B&B Basis Hlanganalodge.

Day 6

After breakfast we visit the Wildlife Park to view crocodiles, we then depart for Kynsna famous for its Oyster beds a cruise to the Featherbed Nature Reserve is arranged.

Overnight in Kynsna B & B Basis St James of Knysna

Day 7

We then continue our journey to arrive in Mossell Bay( the first landing of Europeans in Southern Africa(Portuguese) visit to the Museum and the post office tree (first recorded mail delivery in Africa)

Day 8

On the way back to Cape Town we will visit a brandy distillery for lunch and tasting.

Day 9

After some last minute shopping transfer back to Cape Town International to connect with your flight home
